‘scanning’ with a webcam

openframeworks — nik @ 1:47 am

I started preliminary work on a possible thesis idea that involves the confusion of image data. The image above is a test image from the openFrameworks program that I wrote that slowly creates an image out of horizontal lines of pixels taken over a period of time from my iSight. The effect is that of sticking your head in the xerox machine, it’s a lot of fun. I can’t wait try it outside.

The code isn’t worth releasing yet, but if you want to play with it you can download it here (2.5mb – OSX only, possibly 10.5 only).

Arduino Sequencer

I’ve been working on a really basic sequencer based on Arduino. Nothing too special, the Arduino cycles through four beats depending on the tempo set by one of the potentiometers. The schematic is really simple, 5k potentiometers on analog in 0-4, leds on digital out 2-5, speaker on digital out 12. Code is here.
